Virtual Tour Description

Take a tour through Concrete Pipe & Precast (CP&P)’s Ashland, VA, plant and get a glimpse of what it takes to make a concrete pipe.  Hank Gottschalk, CP&P Senior Manager, and Tryg Hoff, P.E., Northeast Region Engineer for the American Concrete Pipe Association, walk you through the plant and give you insights into the process of the production of concrete pipe.  The tour will start with the aggregate, take you through the welding of the cages, pouring and curing of the concrete, testing, and eventually on to the jobsite.  This is an opportunity to see the production process from the comfort of your chair!

About the Presenters

Hank Gottschalk

Hank Gottschalk has over thirty years experience in construction industry, the majority of those years focused on buried underground utility and infrastructure. He currently serves as Senior Manager – Technical Marketing for Concrete Pipe & Precast, LLC (CP&P) focusing on new products, new markets, and providing technical resources for proper design and installation of buried precast concrete products. Hank has provided educational training throughout the Mid-Atlantic area to hundreds of specifiers, contractors, engineers, and inspectors on buried drainage and pipeline installation, inspection and acceptance. He has served on numerous committees within the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA,) the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA,) the Central Atlantic Precast Concrete Association (CAPCA,) The Precast Concrete Association of Virginia (PCAV,) and the Carolina’s Concrete Pipe & Products Association (CCPPA) assisting with specifications, promotion, and training. Hank earned his Civil Engineering degree from Old Dominion University.

Trygve Hoff, P.E., ENV SP

Trygve Hoff, P.E., ENV SP, is the Northeast Region Engineer for the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA). Tryg graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and his professional experience ranges from environmental consulting in Columbus, Ohio, to architectural engineering in beautiful Lake Tahoe, California. He lives in Madison, Virginia, near the Blue Ridge mountains with his wife, Brooks, on a small 40‐acre horse farm. Tryg is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio, and an Envision Sustainability Professional. He has been promoting resilient infrastructure with the ACPA since 2012.
